The Accuphase DAC-60 is a precision digital input option board designed to be installed directly into compatible Accuphase preamplifiers and integrated amplifiers, providing USB, optical, and coaxial digital inputs and a high-performance onboard DAC without the need for an external digital-to-analogue converter. 2MDS+ Conversion for Exceptional Sonic Purity
At the heart of the DAC-60 is Accuphase’s proprietary 2MDS+ (Multiple Delta Sigma) converter principle, employing ESS Technologies ES9016K2M DAC chips mounted in parallel for analogue signal conversion of exceptional accuracy and naturalness. The 2MDS+ principle uses multiple Delta Sigma converter elements operating simultaneously and averaging their outputs, a technique that dramatically reduces quantisation noise and distortion while preserving the finest detail and dynamic expression of the original recording. The result is an analogue output that remains extremely true to the source sound, with the refinement and musicality that define Accuphase’s approach to digital audio.
Versatile Digital Connectivity
The DAC-60 provides three digital input types to accommodate the broadest range of digital source components. The USB input is USB 2.0 High Speed compliant, supporting DSD playback at 2.8224MHz, 5.6448MHz, and 11.2896MHz (the latter via ASIO only), and PCM audio from 32kHz to 384kHz at up to 32-bit resolution. The optical input is JEITA CP-1212 compliant, supporting sampling frequencies from 32kHz to 96kHz at up to 24-bit. The coaxial input is IEC 60958/AES-3 compliant, supporting sampling frequencies from 32kHz to 192kHz at up to 24-bit. Automatic input selection, automatic recognition of sampling frequency, bit depth, and MHz de-emphasis, and a clear priority sequence of coaxial, then optical, then USB ensure effortless operation across all connected sources.
Seamless Integration into the Accuphase System
The DAC-60 installs directly into the option board slot of compatible Accuphase preamplifiers and integrated amplifiers, allowing digital signals to be fed directly into the amplifier’s signal path without the coloration, noise, or additional interconnects associated with external DAC units. When multiple input signals are supplied simultaneously, the unit automatically locks onto the highest-priority connected signal when the OPTION input is selected, providing effortless and reliable source management at all times. A USB Utility CD-ROM is supplied for driver installation and configuration on compatible computers.
