Solid 5% Silver Conductors
Carbon Coax utilises solid 5% silver-plated Long-Grain Copper conductors. Because high-frequency digital signals travel primarily along the conductor’s surface, the thicker silver layer improves Noise-Dissipation and overall signal integrity. Solid conductors also prevent strand-interaction, a major source of dynamic distortion, helping reduce jitter and preserve timing accuracy.
Carbon-Based 5-Layer Noise-Dissipation
AudioQuest’s advanced 5-Layer Noise-Dissipation System (NDS) uses alternating layers of metal and carbon-loaded synthetics to “shield the shield.” Rather than draining captured radio-frequency interference directly to ground—where it can modulate the system’s reference plane—this design absorbs and reflects most RF energy before it reaches the ground-connected layer, maintaining signal purity and reducing distortion.
Hard-Cell Foam Insulation
Hard-Cell Foam (HCF) insulation preserves critical signal geometry while minimising energy absorption. Nitrogen-injected air pockets reduce stored and released energy that can introduce distortion. The material’s structural stability supports consistent impedance along the cable’s entire length.
Cold-Welded, Hanging-Silver Terminations
Carbon Coax features cold-welded terminations using hanging-silver directly over pure purple copper. This solder-free, high-pressure connection method eliminates solder as a potential source of distortion and enhances signal transfer reliability. The materials are selected specifically for low distortion and optimal conductivity.
