More Than Beryllium
Beryllium is the ideal tweeter dome material thanks to its extreme rigidity, allowing it to reproduce complex harmonics cleanly, even at high levels. Where soft domes blur detail and hard domes add harshness, Beryllium stays precise and effortless.
Davone’s approach goes further. Instead of recessing the dome, it is mounted flush with the baffle to unleash its wide off-axis response without obstruction—a rarity that requires advanced baffle rounding and a more sophisticated crossover design. The payoff is a remarkably expansive and open soundstage.
An ultra-narrow surround removes typical “soft dome” coloration, while the tweeter’s exceptionally low 0.1-gram moving mass and 2.0-Tesla magnetic flux density deliver true reference-level high-frequency performance.
A Cellulose Glass Composite
The woofer cone blends cellulose with fine glass fibers, pairing natural warmth with added stiffness and control. This hybrid material reduces resonances and maintains neutrality, even under demanding dynamics, where pure paper cones often falter. A precision coating process ensures stability and consistent performance across the full frequency range.
Supporting this is a Balanced Drive motor structure designed to keep the voice coil motion symmetrical, minimizing distortion. The result is smooth, natural midrange reproduction paired with articulate, well-controlled bass—forming an ideal foundation for the Reference Three’s engaging and open sonic character.
