The C 558 uses a belt-drive system to keep motor noise away from the stylus. With the motor isolated from the platter, music is reproduced with smoother motion and fewer distractions, so records sound calmer and more natural over longer listening sessions.
Accurate Speed for Natural Pitch and Timing
A carefully regulated power supply regenerates a clean AC signal for the precision motor, keeping the platter turning at an accurate, even speed. Melodies sound more lifelike, instruments keep their natural character, and timing stays true to the recording. Speed is selected manually between 33⅓ and 45 rpm.
Tonearm Control That Preserves Detail
The 9-inch tonearm holds the cartridge steady as it traces the groove, with adjustable tracking force and anti-skating. Set up correctly, the stylus retrieves more information from the record while reducing distortion and record wear. The supplied Ortofon OM10 moving magnet cartridge comes pre-fitted for clear detail and balanced tonality straight out of the box.

A solid MDF plinth, heavy glass platter with felt mat and a hardened steel bearing shaft give the C 558 a stable, low-resonance platform.
