The Accuphase E-6000 is the new flagship integrated stereo amplifier from Accuphase Laboratory, representing the culmination of over 50 years of amplifier technology cultivated since the company’s founding in 1972. Building on the extraordinary success of the E-5000, which earned widespread acclaim for performance and output rivalling that of separate amplifiers, the E-6000 takes every aspect of its predecessor further: a more powerful amplifier stage, a more refined Balanced AAVA preamplifier, a larger transformer, higher-capacity filter capacitors, and a damping factor of 1,000 maintained through the latest ultra-low on-resistance MOSFET speaker protection circuit. The result is sound quality and driving power that establish a new ideal for what an integrated amplifier can achieve.
Balanced AAVA Preamplifier with Enhanced Noise Performance
The E-6000 employs the same Balanced AAVA method used in Accuphase’s dedicated separate preamplifier models, bringing reference-grade volume control and signal handling to the integrated amplifier format. The IV conversion amplifier section incorporates Accuphase’s ANCC technology, improving the rated signal-to-noise ratio by 1dB (10%) over the E-5000, with noise performance in the actual volume usage range improved by 14%. The overall component layout and grounding layout have been comprehensively optimised to further minimise interference and maximise signal purity throughout the preamplifier stage. Gold-plated parts are used for the bases of the input selector and volume knob, and an in-house developed input selector with high rigidity and a carefully crafted tactile feel reflects the attention to detail that defines every Accuphase product.
260-Watt Class AB High-Power Amplifier Stage
The E-6000’s power amplifier section features a current-feedback amplifier circuit with excellent phase response, incorporating a cascode bootstrap circuit in the voltage amplification stage specifically optimised for high-output operation. Six audio bipolar transistors in parallel per channel deliver rated output of 260 watts into 8 ohms and 350 watts into 4 ohms, an increase over the E-5000’s five-transistor configuration that produced 240 watts into 8 ohms and 320 watts into 4 ohms. A newly designed extra-large toroidal transformer, larger than the one used in the E-5000, and high-capacity filter capacitors developed exclusively for this unit at 100V/47,000uF (up from 100V/40,000uF in the E-5000) provide the power supply headroom required to sustain this output with complete authority and dynamic composure under all programme conditions.
Damping Factor of 1,000 and Comprehensive Safety Protection
The E-6000 maintains a damping factor of 1,000 through the incorporation of the latest ultra-low on-resistance MOSFET in the speaker protection circuit, with an on-resistance of just 0.84 milliohms, less than half the 1.6 milliohm figure of the E-5000’s protection circuit. Comprehensive safety features include output short-circuit detection, abnormal temperature detection, and output DC detection, ensuring complete protection for connected loudspeakers and amplifier circuitry under any fault condition. A large analogue power meter graces the front panel, and the position indicator section features a satin-finished aluminium surface that gives the E-6000 a refined and luxurious visual presence. The RC-260 remote commander is included as standard.
