Description
Luxman L-100 Centennial Pure Class A Integrated Amplifier
A Century of Mastery, Distilled into One Amplifier
The Luxman L-100 Centennial is a pure Class A integrated amplifier created to commemorate Luxman’s 100th anniversary, representing the ultimate expression of the company’s century-long heritage of audio excellence. Every element has been designed with a singular purpose: to preserve the integrity of the most delicate musical signals while pursuing the highest level of sonic purity. At its core is LIFES 1.1, the latest evolution of Luxman’s proprietary amplification feedback engine, which cancels only the detected distortion components without degrading the audio signal. The L-100 Centennial is also the first pure Class A integrated amplifier from Luxman to employ the LIFES core circuit technology, achieving a delicate, smooth, and richly textured sound with a densely musical authority that is the genuine hallmark of true Class A amplification.
LIFES 1.1: The Latest Evolution of Luxman’s Amplification Feedback Engine
Developed with a vision for the future of amplifier design, LIFES 1.1 employs paralleled differential detection circuitry to augment the input stage, further reducing distortion and achieving an unprecedented level of clarity and energy across the entire frequency range. The output stage operates entirely in pure Class A, with a triple-paralleled output configuration generously designed to concentrate optimum musical richness within the Class A operating region. Rated output is 20 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 40 watts per channel into 4 ohms, providing ample power for both typical living rooms and dedicated listening spaces, supported by a robust power supply design that delivers remarkable authority and dense musicality from any source.
High-Precision LECUA1000 Volume Control
Volume adjustment is handled by the newly developed LECUA1000, an 88-step electronically controlled attenuator integrated directly into the amplifier circuitry. This design ensures smooth, finely graduated volume control with minimal sonic degradation, while the direct connection between the attenuator and amplification stages shortens signal paths to preserve musical signal integrity at every listening level. High-grade discrete buffer circuitry, derived from Luxman’s flagship preamplifiers, is employed at the preamp output stage to provide powerful drive capability throughout.
Large-Capacity, Highly Stable Power Supply
The power supply of the L-100 Centennial features a custom-designed EI-core transformer regulated by eight large filter capacitors totalling 80,000 microfarads. This formidable power supply delivers exceptional transient response and unwavering stability under all load conditions, providing the abundant energy reserves required for complete control over any loudspeaker with ease and authority. The damping factor of 300 further underscores the L-100 Centennial’s ability to exercise precise, authoritative control over the loudspeakers it drives.
Comprehensive Headphone and Phono Capability
The L-100 Centennial is equipped with both a standard 6.3mm and a 4.4mm balanced headphone output, the latter featuring independent left and right channel ground wiring for improved channel separation, imaging, and a spacious, high-resolution headphone listening experience. A high-quality MM/MC phono amplifier is incorporated to support premium analogue record playback, with MM input sensitivity of 2.5mV and MC input sensitivity of 0.3mV, making the L-100 Centennial a thoroughly self-contained amplifier for any source.
Meticulous Engineering and Expressive Design
The L-100 Centennial’s front panel presents a refined contrast of brushed white finish and a glossy chrome Centennial badge, with illuminated needle-type analogue meters with soft yellow backlighting that respond dynamically to music. A 7-segment LED display between the dual meters shows the current attenuation level for precise volume confirmation from the listening position, with both the meter illumination and LED display independently controllable via the supplied premium aluminium remote control. All circuit boards use peel-coat PCB technology to eliminate resistive coatings and lower induced voltage, newly developed low-noise relays improve channel separation in the input selector circuitry, and density gradient cast iron insulator feet suppress both external vibration and internal mechanical resonance throughout.
