The Kerr Acoustic K400 is a two-way compact stand-mount loudspeaker that redefines what is possible from a speaker of its dimensions. Combining a 150mm sliced wood-fibre cone woofer with a 45mm true ribbon tweeter for unmatched speed and transparency, and featuring Kerr Acoustic’s proprietary transmission-line cabinet architecture, the K400 produces a stunningly accurate and extended frequency response from 39Hz to 45kHz that remains linear and uncoloured at all playback levels. In addition to its capability as a compact stereo stand-mount of exceptional performance, the K400 is also suitable for surround channel applications and features four M8 threaded rear inserts for wall or ceiling suspension, making it a genuinely versatile solution across a wide range of listening room configurations and home theatre installations.
Transmission-Line Architecture and Driver Technology
The K400’s two-way driver complement follows the same design philosophy that defines every loudspeaker in the Kerr Acoustic range. A 150mm wood-fibre cone woofer with an extended linear suspension system and patented symmetrical drive motor design is housed within Kerr Acoustic’s proprietary transmission-line cabinet, enabling bass extension to 39Hz from a cabinet measuring just 341 x 164 x 310mm and weighing 7.5kg per loudspeaker. A 45mm true ribbon tweeter with a diaphragm mass of just 0.02 grams handles the high frequencies from the 1.95kHz crossover point, delivering the speed, resolution, and extension to 45kHz that true ribbon technology uniquely provides. The integration of the wood-fibre woofer and ribbon tweeter produces a soundstage of exceptional precision and transparency across the full audible frequency range and well beyond.
Versatile Installation and Exceptional Craftsmanship
The K400 is constructed from 18 and 24mm Baltic Birch plywood in Kerr Acoustic’s transmission-line configuration, combining structural rigidity with the acoustic loading that enables the woofer to deliver its remarkable bass extension for a cabinet of this size. Four M8 threaded rear inserts provide secure mounting options for wall or ceiling installation in surround sound and distributed audio applications, and the compact 164mm width allows the K400 to integrate discreetly into virtually any room. Available in a range of real wood veneer finishes including Oak and Walnut, as well as satin or high-gloss lacquer in any RAL colour with colour matching available, the K400 is as refined in its visual presentation as it is in its acoustic performance. Magnetic grilles are supplied as standard.
