Our Latest Amplification Feedback Engine: LIFES Version 1.0
Luxman’s proprietary “ODNF” amplification circuitry has long been praised for its ability to preserve the purity of an audio signal. Now, with the development of “LIFES” technology, this amplification feedback engine reaches a new level of high-fidelity sound reproduction.
First introduced in the M-10X flagship stereo power amplifier, LIFES has been completely reengineered to deliver the most natural and dynamic audio performance yet. In the L-509Z, independent LIFES modules operate in both the preamplifier and power amplifier sections, embodying the “single-chassis separates” concept. The output stage features a three-stage Darlington bipolar transistor design in a quadruple-paralleled push-pull configuration, ensuring outstanding linearity and effortless power delivery of 120W+120W (8Ω) and 220W+220W (4Ω). The result is a sound that is expansive, precise, and full of energy.
Electronically Controlled Attenuator: LECUA-EX
A high-performance amplifier requires an equally refined volume control system. Luxman’s LECUA-EX (Electronically Controlled Ultimate Attenuator – Excellent eXperience) provides a superior attenuation mechanism by utilizing high-precision fixed-value resistors that switch seamlessly to maintain sonic purity.
LECUA-EX builds upon the acclaimed LECUA1000 system found in Luxman’s flagship components, integrating a new rotary encoder with a carefully weighted rotation mechanism. With 88 fine steps from 0 to -87dB, an acceleration setting for faster volume adjustments, and remote control capabilities, LECUA-EX ensures smooth, precise, and reliable control with minimal sound degradation.
Highly Regulated Power Supply
At the core of the L-509Z’s power system is a bespoke, high-regulation 600VA El transformer, supported by eight newly developed 10,000μF large-capacity filter capacitors. This powerful and stable supply delivers instantaneous current on demand, ensuring the amplifier remains responsive and dynamic across all listening levels.
High-Quality Phono EQ
The L-509Z features a premium phono equalizer circuit, supporting both MM and MC cartridges with a newly added two-step gain switch for MC settings. This adjustment accommodates a wider range of cartridges, enhancing the fidelity and flexibility of vinyl playback. A mute button has also been conveniently placed on the front panel.
Advanced 3-Band Tone Control
In addition to traditional Bass and Treble controls, the L-509Z introduces a Middle control, allowing precise adjustments in the vocal and lead instrument frequency ranges. High-Performance Headphone Outputs
For headphone enthusiasts, the L-509Z offers both a standard φ6.3mm output and a high-quality φ4.4mm balanced output. The independent left and right ground wiring in the balanced output significantly improves stereo separation, providing a spacious, three-dimensional listening experience.
