McIntosh MA252 | Build Your Sonus faber System
A McIntosh Starting Point for Your System
Start with the McIntosh MA252 integrated amplifier, then choose the Sonus faber speakers that suit your room and the way you listen. Our suggested pairings below offer a choice of compact bookshelf speakers and a floorstanding system, with the Camberwell team available to help you compare them.
The displayed RRP is for the MA252 amplifier only. Speakers and other system components are additional. The photographs below illustrate suggested pairings, not a complete package included at the amplifier price. Please contact us for a complete system quotation.
Hybrid Drive Amplification
The MA252 combines a valve preamplifier with a solid state output stage. It delivers 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms or 160 watts into 4 ohms, with Power Guard and Sentry Monitor protection. Four analogue inputs include a Moving Magnet phono connection for a compatible turntable.
Bass and treble controls, a headphone output and a powered subwoofer connection provide flexibility as your system develops. The polished chassis, exposed valve cages and illuminated display give the amplifier its recognisable McIntosh appearance.

Suggested Sonus faber Pairings
These are starting points for a system consultation, not selectable options or fixed bundle prices. Walnut finishes are shown. We can discuss the speaker finish, positioning, source components and any stands or cables needed for your room.
MA252 with Lumina II Amator
A compact bookshelf pairing for listeners who prefer a smaller cabinet. The Italian made Lumina II Amator combines a two way design with a 150mm paper cone bass and midrange driver, a DAD soft dome tweeter and an upgraded crossover. Its high gloss wood front and leather finish offer a distinct visual contrast to the MA252’s metal and glass.

MA252 with Lumina V Amator
The floorstanding alternative in this selection. Lumina V Amator uses a three way design, with a dedicated midrange driver and two bass drivers below its DAD tweeter. Compared with the smaller Lumina II Amator, it offers greater bass extension and is worth considering when a floorstanding speaker suits the room. The MA252 provides the same analogue system centre, including its phono input for vinyl playback.

MA252 with Sonetto I G2
The smallest bookshelf model in the current Sonetto collection is a good starting point when space is limited. Its two way layout combines a 5 inch midwoofer with a DAD tweeter in a curved, lute shaped cabinet. A front facing reflex port and concrete base distinguish it from the Lumina design. Paired with the MA252, it offers another compact route into a McIntosh and Sonus faber system.
MA252 with Sonetto II G2
Choose this pairing to explore the larger Sonetto bookshelf design. Sonetto II G2 retains the curved cabinet, DAD tweeter and front port, adding a larger 6.5 inch midwoofer and deeper specified bass response than Sonetto I G2. It is an option for listeners who want a bookshelf system with more low frequency reach without moving to a floorstanding cabinet.
