A World First in Moving Magnet Technology
The Rega Nd3 is a landmark achievement in Moving Magnet cartridge design, developed over ten years to deliver a level of performance that Rega believes to be without precedent in the Moving Magnet category. At the heart of the Nd3 is an ultra-high-powered Neodymium N55 magnet, the world’s most powerful commercially available magnet, which Rega believes makes the Nd range the first Moving Magnet cartridges in the world to utilise this technology. The result is a cartridge of extraordinary resolution, soundstage width, and musical accuracy, meticulously hand-built by Rega’s most skilled technicians to exacting tolerances.
Advanced Generator Design
The Nd3 features a completely new generator geometry with perfect symmetry, achieving highly accurate channel balance that is rarely attained in cartridges at this level. Miniaturised parallel coils, wound in-house using 38-micron wire with precisely 1,275 turns, produce a low-inductance, low-impedance generator that delivers a vastly improved high-frequency response compared to previous Rega Moving Magnet designs. An optimised pole gap provides superior linearity and crosstalk characteristics, resulting in a far wider and more precisely defined soundstage than any prior model in the Rega cartridge range.
Neodymium Magnet Technology
The Neodymium N55 magnet at the core of the Nd3 has long been a defining feature of high-performance Moving Coil cartridge designs, including other products within the Rega range. By applying this technology to a Moving Magnet design for the first time, Rega has created a cartridge that offers the extra output power and magnetic intensity of Neodymium in a format compatible with the Moving Magnet phono inputs found in the vast majority of amplifiers and phono stages, making next-level performance accessible without the need for a dedicated Moving Coil phono stage.
Glass-Filled PPS Body for Precision and Low Mass
The complete Nd3 assembly is housed in a zero-tolerance injection-moulded body crafted from glass-filled polyphenylene sulphide, a lightweight and highly rigid engineering material inspired by Rega’s acclaimed Moving Coil range. The low-mass body reduces stress on tonearm bearings and aids free movement, both of which are critical to accurate vinyl replay. Each Nd3 is supplied in 100% recyclable packaging, reflecting Rega’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility.
